Saudi-Made ASTM PVC Pipes for Industrial & Commercial Pressure Networks

ASTM-standard PVC pipes are the global benchmark for pressure-rated fluid transfer — used wherever consistent dimensions, predictable pressure ratings, and chemical compatibility matter. From industrial water lines in Jubail to commercial plumbing in Riyadh towers, ASTM specifications give engineers and consultants the certainty they need.

4B Factory ASTM pipes are produced from 100% virgin PVC compound with calibrated wall thicknesses matching D1785 Schedule 40/80/120 and D2241 SDR series. They’re non-toxic, corrosion-immune, and lighter than metal — delivering long service life with faster installation than steel or copper alternatives.

Schedule 40 vs Schedule 80 What They Mean

“Schedule” refers to wall thickness. Heavier schedule = thicker wall = higher pressure rating. Match the schedule to your design pressure and application.

SCH 40
Standard Pressure

Schedule 40 — Standard Pressure Applications

Standard wall thickness for commercial plumbing, residential pressure lines, pool circulation, and low-pressure industrial water. Lighter and more cost-effective than SCH 80. Identifiable by white colour. Should not be threaded — wall too thin for safe threading.

SCH 80
High Pressure / Industrial

Schedule 80 — High-Pressure & Industrial

Thicker wall, approximately 30% heavier than SCH 40 in the same diameter, for higher pressures, threaded connections, industrial chemical lines, and demanding service. Identifiable by dark grey colour. Required when project specs call for threaded joints. Schedule 120 is also produced for the heaviest-duty applications.

Pressure ratings apply at 23 °C (73 °F). For elevated temperatures (up to 60 °C), apply the standard de-rating factors. ASTM D1785 covers Schedule-based wall thickness; ASTM D2241 covers SDR (Standard Dimension Ratio) sizing — both produced in-house. Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from MEP engineers, industrial buyers, and procurement teams sourcing ASTM PVC pipes in Saudi Arabia.

What's the difference between ASTM D1785 and ASTM D2241?

D1785 covers Schedule 40, 80, and 120 PVC pipe — sized by wall thickness schedule. D2241 covers SDR (Standard Dimension Ratio) PVC pressure pipe — sized by the ratio of outside diameter to wall thickness. Both are pressure-rated; the schedule system is more common for industrial/commercial work, SDR is common for distribution mains.

What's the difference between Schedule 40 and Schedule 80?

SCH 80 has roughly 30% thicker walls than SCH 40 at the same diameter — giving higher pressure rating, threading capability, and more impact resistance. SCH 80 is identified by dark grey colour; SCH 40 by white.

Can ASTM PVC pipes be threaded?

Only Schedule 80 and heavier walls can be safely threaded. Threading Schedule 40 is not recommended — the wall is too thin and the pressure rating drops by 50%.

What's the maximum operating temperature?

PVC’s maximum service temperature is 60 °C (140 °F). Pressure ratings apply at 23 °C and de-rate at higher temperatures per the standard. For elevated-temperature applications, use solvent-cemented joints (not threaded).

Are ASTM PVC pipes safe for potable water?

Yes — PVC pipes manufactured to ASTM D1785 with NSF-aligned compounds are widely used for potable water. We supply material declarations confirming compliance for water-contact applications.

Can 4B Factory supply ASTM pipes for industrial city tenders?

Yes. We routinely supply Jubail, Yanbu, Sudair, and Modon-managed industrial cities with ASTM-compliant pressure pipes, full documentation, and project-scheduled delivery.

What jointing method is used?

Solvent cement jointing with belled (factory-formed) sockets is the standard for ASTM D1785 pipes. Rubber-ring belled joints (per ASTM D3139) are also available for larger diameters on request.

Do you supply ASTM PVC fittings as well?

Yes — Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 fittings (elbows, tees, couplings, reducers, adapters) are produced or sourced to match. See our Customized Fittings page for the full range.
