Straight vs Staggered Perforation — Which Pattern?
Perforation geometry directly affects inflow rate, structural strength, and filtration behaviour. Match the pattern type to the application — drainage, well screen, or leachate.
Straight Row Perforation
Holes arranged in aligned longitudinal rows along the pipe length. Provides maximum inflow rate for a given hole count and is easier to align with filter sock material. Typically used for sub-soil drainage, agricultural drainage, and leachate collection where inflow capacity matters most.
Staggered Row Perforation
Holes arranged in offset rows around the pipe circumference. Distributes structural load more evenly and provides higher hoop strength at the same open area. Preferred for deep well screens, deep-burial drainage, and applications where the pipe is under high external pressure.
